Design a Man Cave Worthy of a Grunt

Design a Man Cave Worthy of a Grunt

While we love a good she shed, we want to give a shout out to the man cave. Whether it’s in the corner of the garage or in the backyard, the man cave is great place to let your manly stuff take center stage. So what makes the perfect man cave? It all boils down to personal style, but there are a few things that can help you turn your space into a mannish sanctuary.

Space planning

Your new refuge should be the ultimate escape, whether you choose to use your man cave for watching the game, playing poker with the guys, or making music with your band. The most important thing is to figure out the amount of space you need. Then, plan your cave accordingly. Start by considering style and size. If you’re planning on using the space for entertaining, think about adding a front porch for summer events. For a multi-purpose manlike retreat, an interior partition wall, or shelving, is a useful way to separate space. Throw down some rubber mats, a bench press, and some weights, and BOOM, you’ve got a private gym.
Pick out the “look”

It’s time for your style to be in the spotlight. Break out the neon signs that have been collecting dust in the garage, pull out your old air hockey table, and be sure to install a multi-media zone. Don’t forget seating! If you’re creating a manly entertainment space, be sure to supply plenty of recliners and comfortable chairs.

Take a look at a recent display from a home show. Complete with a bar top, flat screen, and poker table, this shed is man card worthy.

Do a little DIY

Your man cave is the perfect place to show off your handyman skills. Build some shelving units, put together your own reclaimed wood wall, or design your own bar top. Put your latest DIY projects on display and get ready to serve up libations to family and friends. One of our favorite man cave-ready DIY projects is this repurposed pallet shelf. It’s sturdy enough to hold the tools in your workshop or your favorite beverages at your bar.
