Industry Leading Shed And Garage Builder Returns To Tucson

January 5, 2013|press releases
The Tuff Shed logo is displayed over a series of engineering plans

The building that houses the TUFF SHED factory is brand new. However, the opening of this facility actually represents a return to Tucson for Denver-based TUFF SHED. The company first began servicing the Tucson market in October 1985. During which TUFF SHED opened only its second (Salt Lake City was the first) factory.

The Tucson market turned out to be a successful venture for TUFF SHED. With this factory becoming the company’s first location to exceed $1 Million in sales in a single year during 1987. Shortly thereafter, in May of 1988, TUFF SHED founder Tom Saurey struck an agreement with a business associate to leave the Tucson market. Under that agreement, the Tucson facility remained in operation and used the name of TUFF SHED in the Tucson area.

Tuff Shed and Tucson

By 2003, Denver-based TUFF SHED, Inc. had begun servicing Tucson customers again via local Home Depot stores, with these installations handled by crews out of the company’s Phoenix factory. Then, in 2005 TUFF SHED, Inc. began making plans for construction of a local production facility and its eventual full-fledged return to Tucson.

The new factory in Tucson is located at 3310 E. Gas Road, near the intersection of Interstate 10 and Palo Verde. TUFF SHED will occupy 20,000 of the 30,000 square feet in the facility.  Eventually having local manufacturing operations as well as an indoor retail showroom featuring a broad range of display models.

Conversely, the company plans to add a tenant in the remaining 10,000 square feet of available space. At this instant they are working with Rob Glaser and Picor Commercial Real Estate to find a tenant.

The location has excellent highway frontage, and is ironically only a couple of blocks away from the company’s original Tucson facility. Rich Dell will man the Tucson store as General Manager.

“I’ve always wanted to get back to Tucson,” said TUFF SHED President Tom Saurey. “I know this can be a successful market for us, and look forward to offering customers there our full line of high quality products.”

With the opening of the Tucson factory, TUFF SHED now operates a total of 53 manufacturing facilities across the United States. Besides the factory outlets, TUFF SHED’s distribution network includes nearly 1,500 Home Depot locations across the country. The company’s sales of $192 million in 2007 make TUFF SHED the largest storage building and garage manufacturer in the United States.

More About Tuff Shed
