Spooky-Strong Shed Stories

October 31, 2025|get to know tuff shed
Bear on top of a snowy Tuff Shed

Of course we make our sheds tough, it’s literally in our name. But in honor of Spooky Season (that’s October, for the uninitiated), we’re rounding up spooky-strong shed stories that are almost frightening.

So whether you’re getting a Tuff Shed for holiday storage for Halloween decorations or to turn it into a bloodcurdling backyard haunted house, you know it will last.

The black bear encounter

In the dark of the night, a black bear came to Troy’s backyard to try to break into his shed. For the record, black bears have 1–2” long claws evolved to climb trees and shred into logs. Even with her impressive murder mittens, she wasn’t able to break into Troy’s Tuff Shed.

“After [the bear’s] most recent visit, I  just need to touch up the paint and reattach some trim. The shed will be as good as new. It’s a great product!”

Timber! Tree vs. Shed

Have you ever heard the crack of a tree trunk about to fall? It’s a truly terrifying sound.

During a fierce windstorm in Shelton, Washington, a massive tree crashed down onto Ron and Beth’s Tuff Shed. In the aftermath, they went outside expecting the worst fate for their new shed.

But when Ron went to go assess the damage after the storm, he was shocked that the only damage the tall Washington pine left behind was a hole the size of a baseball that was easily fixed.

And legend has it… you can still get a spooky-strong shed to this day.

Happy Spooky Season! That’s it for our haunting tales of Tuffness, featuring buildings that outlasted bear attacks and windstorms. If our sheds can handle all that, a few trick-or-treaters in your backyard haunted house will be a piece of cake. Or candy.

Get your own Tuff Shed to store all those articulating skeletons and animatronic witches, just give us a call or visit our showroom to peep holiday storage options.

You can also play around with the online configurator to customize the shed of your dreams as soon as right… now.
