Jeffrey’s Dream Woodshop Shed

November 7, 2024|building of the month

Jeffery's 20x24’ Dream Woodshop Shed

Jeffrey is a software engineer during the week and a woodworker during the weekend. But when he and his wife moved to a new house, finding a property with a woodshop shed that met his exacting standards was nearly impossible.  After walking by a Home Depot shed display, he built his own woodworking haven in a Tuff Shed. More than that, he decided to build a structure that could stand the test of time.

Trusting the Tuff Shed process

As a woodworker, Jeffrey knows the importance of a reliable process. He found his local Tuff Shed rep, Jeff, and talked through the process of a project this size. He customized his building and got the features that would make his shop functional. Tuff Shed even helped him out with the permitting process. Then, it was time for the install.

Jeff told us, “What really drew me to Tuff Shed was they have a team who shows up, starts building, and doesn’t leave until your project’s done.” Tuff Shed installed his shed in just three days. That was a big perk for Jeffrey, who didn’t want to bother his neighbors with prolonged construction noise—or wait for slow contractors. Then, Jeffrey added insulation and hired an electrician to install all the wiring he needed to run the power tools.

Welcome to the woodshop shed.

Jeffrey’s woodshop is a 20x24’ building totaling 480 square feet. He chose vaulted ceilings, at 9’ tall, which make the space feel much more open and allow him plenty of room for his tools and dust collection.

Woodshop shed that lasts

When Jeffrey woodworks, he often considers how what he’s making will continue to live long after he’s gone. Jeffrey makes chairs, bedside tables, and buffet tables. Crafting and selling these things is his retirement plan. Even more than that, Jeffrey’s creations are his legacy. He believes things should last and be able to be passed on. He had the exact same idea for his Tuff Shed: “I wanted to make it future-proof,” adding that if the next owners of his home wanted to run something as high-powered as a server farm in the building, they could.
