Brian’s Sustainable, Affordable Home Office

September 6, 2024|building of the month

Brian's 10x12' Premier Pro Studio home office Tuff Shed.

Brian is the Director of Marketing at Fold, a husband, and the father of two toddlers. What he and his wife needed to make their work-from-home careers possible was more space. The hunt to find the perfect affordable home office was on.

For him, adding that home office to his backyard was a no brainer.

Luckily, he’d seen the Murrieta Tuff Shed off the highway.

Brian got in touch with our team in Murrieta, CA, and was able to get a shed customized for his home office needs—and his vision of a sustainable back yard.

He got a 10x12’ Premier Pro Studio, which matched the size of the office inside the house. A set of transom window upgrades on three walls keeps his home office nice and bright, along with a glass panel door.

He also opted to supply a custom paint color to make sure that his shed fit the aesthetic he was going for.

See Brian’s installation process here.

“If you like your house, make it cool and energy efficient.”

That’s Brian’s remodeling philosophy. And he knew a Tuff Shed home office would be cost-effective and perfect for his vision of making his back yard as multifunctional as possible. His shed fits right in with the rainwater cistern and grape vines. Brian even has rainwater capture off the back of his shed.

In Brian’s view, creating a sustainable house is one of the best returns on investment a homeowner can achieve.

Including the cost to install air conditioning and electricity, Brian calculated that the cost of his shed worked out to an exceptionally affordable $157 per square foot, which is almost unheard of in Southern California.

Watch Brian’s 6-month review and cost breakdown of his Tuff Shed home office:

Best. Commute. Ever.

The price was right, the increased functionality of his backyard was right, and the sustainability factors were right.

But Brian’s favorite thing about his Tuff Shed is the separation it creates between his home life and work life. He loves leaving his house in the morning, crossing the backyard, and entering a different space to get his work done for the day.

He says his affordable home office has reduced his mental load and allowed him to create his best work yet, including writing, podcasts, and YouTube videos.
