Cimme and Alan had plans to downsize – to a point. With new laws allowing for additional living spaces to be added to properties, they added a separate suite to their backyard but still wanted a little more space. A new shed was a great solution, adding the extra room they needed while staying within their budget.
“We loved how the new living space turned out, but going from several closets to just one, was just not possible,” says Cimme. So, the original plan was to turn the shed into an extra large closet for the backyard suite, but Cimme and Alan found a better use for their 10×12 Premier Tall Ranch.

The couple decided on a mixed-use studio. Half the shed is a home office and the other is an art studio, with some extra storage space as well. “We love that we can both use the space. A lot of people don’t realize how much space is in a 10×12 shed and it’s really wonderful to both put it to use,” says Cimme.
As realtors, Cimme and Alan had high standards for their backyard updates. Their guest house, built by another contractor, took eight months to complete. And the new Tuff Shed office took four hours. “We are such happy campers,” laughs Cimme, “We’re so pleased with the service and how well the shed was built, it’s just like a little house.”
When it comes to major home improvement projects you can’t beat the satisfaction of creating a property you can be proud of. Cimme and Alan are certainly proud of their new addition and we’re proud to have been a part of it.
